Hanna & Spike at Mere Farm

I first met Hanna when I had an equine portrait photoshoot with her employers, eventers Amanda and Rafa of R&A Equestrian back in 2021. Since then, Amanda and Rafa have moved to Tim & Jonelle Price’s former base at the stunning Mere Farm, Wiltshire and welcomed their beautiful baby girl Stella!

Hanna reached out to me because she was saying farewell to her project horse, Spike, a 5yr old ex-racer who came to Amanda and Rafa to be produced and sold. Initially Hanna wasn’t sure about him, but decided to take a chance on him and bought him for herself. Over 9 months she spent lots of time bringing him on, building up his strength and confidence. He turned out to be a really honest boy, taking everything from flat work to cross country schooling in his stride. He also is super affectionate, loving cuddles and attention where possible.

Sadly, Hanna was moving back home to Sweden at the end of the year and couldn’t take him with her, so it was time to find some very lucky person to take the reins. Hanna wanted to capture some beautiful memories of them together, to treasure when she had to say goodbye.

Spike was an absolute super star on our shoot – he was so patient and well behaved throughout the whole shoot, an absolute credit to all the hard work Hanna has put into him.

Spike has how found his new home with a lovely young rider who will no doubt spoil him rotten!

This is what Hanna had to say about her shoot:

“I had a shoot together with Joss in end of May at Mere to get some last memories with my horse that’s now sold. The reason why I just chose Joss is because I saw her work together with my bosses earlier during a shoot and kept everything very simple and natural even for us that’s not very used to be behind the camera, and her photos in general is just something else.

Really liked that she took her time to go through outfits, different places to take photos etc with me, and could spend hours at one place to get that one photo that I wanted. The result in general came out way better than I could imagine. We were working with an impatient 5yo ex racehorse and I thought he couldn’t stand still more than 0.5 seconds, but even with that Joss could get amazing after amazing pictures!

So if you’re looking for someone to take just some nice photos of you and your horse, or for some special reason as I did you should definitely choose Joss because you’ll not be disappointed!”
